Birding

If you’re a birder, chances are that you’re already aware of Oaxaca’s stunning diversity of feathered life. We strongly suspect that no one in San Pablo Etla had a faster eye or deeper knowledge of our local birds than did our neighbor, Bill Stecher. We deeply grieve Bill’s passing from a car accident on a birding trip to Jalapa in 2015.

Fortunately, his meticulous birding records survive him. With thanks to his widow, Mary, we can offer you the most comprehensive San Pablo bird list ever, which Bill supplemented with observations from several other local birders. Bring your binoculars and see how many you can spot during your vacation.
